509. Jess Paul “Burying Baby”

Hello to all my DIF Listeners and Friends!

For me, one of the highlights of the 2024 Sherman Oaks Festival was writer/producer/artist Jess Paul using the All Access Pass that she got for her film “Burying Baby” being a Official Selection to attend many
screenings throughout the festival. Obviously I started this podcast because I love indie films and talking about them, and every time I ran into Jess at the festival we would have a great
chat about the films she had seen and about the festival in general.

“Burying Baby” is a touching, authentically surprising short film about loss that is very close to my heart and it took him the Programmer’s Prize for Exceptional Filmmaking.                                                                                                                                                                     I will not go into it too much, but Jess and I did email about her film prior to the festival and this classy, kind person gave me a lovely gift that is hanging on my All Access Pass as I type.

We had a great chat on this podcast and Jess’s intelligence and perspective struck me so that when I had to give podcast producer Karina Wolfe a list of potential interviewers for DIF Episode 500 in February, I added her to this list!
I did not want to choose my interviewer and left that up Karina. This is my way of saying that Jess is now a part of Discover Indie Film history.
That’s right. Jess will forever be the person who interviewed the interviewer.
